Ana G. Tapia Memorial Scholarship in Public Health

This scholarship was established to honor of Ana G. Tapia, a Fowler High graduate and Fresno State student pursing a master’s degree in public health, whose life was cut tragically short November 7, 2014. Ana, a first generation college student, accomplished much in her short life, with the help and loving support of her parents who instilled the remarkable values, compassionate nature and kindness that stand as testaments to a short but well-lived life. Ana’s drive and passion to serve others and truly understand the needs in her community and its health disparities, specifically the needs in the Latino community are the basis for this award that bears her name in perpetuity.

A scholarship shall be awarded to a deserving student who is majoring in public health and has demonstrated interest in and a passion for health issues and challenges in the Latino community. Second preference shall be given to deserving students who demonstrate great potential through academic excellence, have a financial need, and graduated from Fowler High School. Third preference will be given to rural high school graduates from the following counties: Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, or Tulare.

Please Note
This scholarship opportunity has a financial need requirement. To qualify for this scholarship opportunity, applicants must also submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or the California Dream Application, and have a calculated financial need analysis done by Fresno State prior to the scholarship application deadline. When the Financial Aid Office receives and processes the FAFSA, a financial need calculation will automatically be uploaded to your scholarship application. The financial need of an applicant is based on the current academic year data when the student applied for the scholarship.
