Louise Sorrenti Petrosino Scholarship
Louise, daughter of Rocco (Robert) and Janet Sorrenti, was born on January 12, 1934 in Clovis, California. Louise attended Clovis Grammar School and graduated from Clovis High School and Fresno State College, where she earned her degree in Home Economics and received a teaching credential. Louise married Antonio Petrosino in 1955 and together they had three children: Rocco, Vinci and Kristi. Louise was also blessed with ten grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
Though Louise was a very devoted and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, she also made it a priority to continually serve others through a variety of philanthropic work. Louise was a former Parent Club President at Fort Washington Elementary School, Clark Intermediate School and Booster Club President for Clovis High School. Louise also co-chaired the tax-override measure that successfully helped build Lamonica Stadium as well as the Clovis West Olympic Swim Complex. In recognition of Louise’s many efforts and accomplishments, Clovis Unified School District honored her with the Outstanding Community Citizen Award in 1975, an honorary Doctorate of Community Service in 1976 and in 1977 she received the Golden Apple Award. Moreover, Louise also contributed a great deal of time supporting Saint Paul Newman Center and Valley Children’s Hospital, both as a trustee and through her 33-year membership in the Los Rancheros Guild.
It is the family’s hope that the Louise Sorrenti Petrosino Scholarship will do more than just enhance one’s financial ability to attend California State University, Fresno. The ultimate goal is that the memory of Louise’s achievements and character inspires the recipient to continue her legacy of service before self.
Best wishes,
The Antonio Petrosino Family
