CSU Robert D. & Dorothy W. Talty Scholarship
Robert D. Talty graduated from the University of Kansas and went on to earn his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware and his MBA from Southern Illinois University. He worked at T-Pack, the Department of Agriculture, and Heat Transfer Research, Inc. as president, helping to establish its global presence while fostering international marketing efforts and long-range strategic planning. In 2012, the Robert and Dorothy Family Trust established an endowment to provide funds for scholarships for CSU students majoring in engineering, physics, chemistry, biology and computer sciences.
- One (1) $7,500 scholarship will be awarded for the 2026-2027 academic year.
APPLICANTS MUST
- Be in good academic standing.
- Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year.
- Be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student majoring in engineering, physics, chemistry, biology or computer sciences at Fresno State.
- Remain a full-time Fresno State student during the 2026/2027 academic year.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to completing the general scholarship application on this site, applicants must provide a brief personal statement answering the following questions:
- What experience has impacted your personal growth?
- Tell us about a time you failed. What did you learn from that experience?
- Why are you pursing your major? How does it relate to your career aspirations?
- Provide an example of service beyond the classroom (i.e., have you taken on significant family obligations, helped others in a specific way, been involved in political action, worked/volunteered/interned at a particular organization, etc.). Why is this example significant to you?
This scholarship opportunity has a financial need requirement. To qualify for this scholarship applicants must also submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or the California Dream Application, for the upcoming 2026/2027 academic year. When the Office Financial Aid Office & Scholarships receives and processes the FAFSA information, a financial need calculation will automatically be uploaded to your scholarship application.
The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships will review applications to ensure that they meet all stated requirements. The campus may submit two (2) applicants for consideration to the CSU Foundation to make the final selection.
